Tree Planting

Extensive tree planting has taken place on local farms and at the Biggleswade site in recent years in conjunction with advice from Bedfordshire County Council woodland specialists and FWAG. Field hedgerows of mature Hawthorn bushes are usually full of berries in the Autumn and any hedge trimming is restricted to maximise the winter feed for wild birds.

Tree planting over the last fifteen years at the site has covered an area of twelve acres ( five hectares) assisting to screen the packhouse buildings within the agricultural landscape. As individual trees increase in size it is hoped to attract increasing numbers of local wildlife and birds within the new woodland areas.
